Campaign Code of Conduct
As a candidate for Woodinville City Council, how we campaign reflects how we govern. This campaign is grounded in Democratic values: inclusion, equity, transparency, community voice, and accountable leadership.
This Code of Conduct guides not only me, the candidate, but also every member of Team Michelle—staff, volunteers, and supporters.
1. Integrity First
We will always lead with honesty, accuracy, and respect. Our campaign does not spread misinformation, distort facts, or use fear as a tactic. We are committed to truth—even when it’s complicated—and to taking responsibility for our actions.
2. People Over Politics
This campaign is about people, not power. We prioritize listening to community members - including those who do not live within city limits or those historically underrepresented in government. We will advocate for policies that serve all Woodinville community members (including non-residents)—not just the loudest or most powerful.
3. Standing Up To Disinformation
We will strongly challenge harmful ideas or actions with facts and a focus on the issues. We will clearly and responsibly call out disinformation. We do not support policies that put Woodinville at risk and are contrary to Washington State laws, such as the Growth Management Act.
4. Zero Tolerance for Harassment or Discrimination
Our campaign is a safe, inclusive space. Harassment, hate speech, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated—whether it occurs in-person, online, or in campaign-related spaces.
Unacceptable behaviors include:
Offensive comments or jokes based on race, gender, identity, ability, religion, age, or immigration status
Unwelcome sexual attention or conduct
Physical intimidation or personal space violations
Personal insults or public disparagement
Doxing or sharing personal information without consent
Posting sexually explicit or violent content under the guise of the campaign
Any person representing this campaign—staff, volunteer, or supporter—who engages in this behavior will be immediately removed from campaign activities. Concerns can be reported directly and confidentially to the candidate.
5. Transparency and Accountability
Our campaign will follow all PDC requirements regarding fundraising, spending, reporting, and decision-making. We welcome small dollar grass-roots donors who are aligned with our campaign’s key initiatives and priorities. We will release all required information because the public deserves to know who is influencing their leaders—and why. We will correct mistakes and own them.
6. Positive, Community-Centered Messaging
We aim to lift up the best of Woodinville—our shared values, our local talent, and our hopes for the future. Our campaign materials, speeches, and outreach will reflect that commitment.
7. Supporter Conduct
We ask all supporters—online and offline—to uphold this code. Passionate disagreement is welcome. Disrespect, lies and disinformation is not. If supporters violate these standards, we reserve the right to publicly disavow and disconnect from them.
8. Commitment to Democratic Principles
We stand for free and fair elections, the rule of law, public transparency, and the peaceful transfer of power. These principles are not negotiable. We will work to expand voting access, civic participation, and trust in local government.
9. Anonymous Reporting & Campaign Safety
