Inclusion & Community for All
Woodinville should be a welcoming, inclusive, and connected community where everyone feels valued, differences are celebrated and diverse voices are proactively included.
Key initiatives and ongoing projects:
Community Engagement Plan: Michelle was one of three Councilmembers to volunteer for extra work, developing the first-ever Woodinville Community Engagement Plan. This is a framework for City Staff and Council and includes initiatives like hosting listening sessions, public meetings, and direct outreach to ensure all voices are heard.
Supporting Woodinville Pride: supporting Pride is more than just a proclamation. As an ally, Michelle shows up, listens, and ensures Woodinville is a place where all feel welcome.
Honoring cultural celebrations: recognizing and celebrating the contributions of all communities including Black History Month, Pride and Juneteenth are part of making Woodinville an inclusive place for all.
Hiring a dedicated Community Outreach Coordinator: in 2023, Woodinville City Council hired the first-ever Community Outreach Coordinator dedicated to developing proactive relationships with stakeholders around Woodinville. This is an important effort in proactively including diverse opinions, lived experiences and viewpoints.
