Supporting Small Businesses + Local Economy
Woodinville thrives on sales tax revenue, which funds essential city services. A strong, diverse economy includes a walkable, vibrant downtown to include the newly-created Woodinville Creative District. Commitment to supporting our local economy mean that we have sustainable city funding without raising property taxes (since 2017).
With smart planning and strategic investments, we can grow the economy while keeping Woodinville’s small-town charm.
Key initiatives and ongoing projects to support our business community:
Led the charge for Woodinville’s first-ever Economic Development Plan: ensuring a long-term strategy to attract businesses, create jobs, and strengthen our local economy.
Championed a balanced approach: that supports small businesses, tourism, and innovation while preserving Woodinville’s unique character.
Prioritized business-friendly policies: updating outdated regulations, streamlining permitting processes, and supporting local entrepreneurs.
Advocated for investments in key economic drivers: including tourism, the wine industry, establishing a new Woodinville Creative District, and infrastructure that connects businesses to opportunity.
Exploring affordable commercial: there are many unique ways that Woodinville can support a thriving local economy and some areas under exploration include how to create opportunities for affordable commercial, pop-up spaces, shared storefronts and incubation spaces.
Engaged directly with business owners: including quarterly Business Listening Sessions—ensuring the Economic Development Plan reflects the real needs of our local economy.
